The great Himalayan trail in the mysterious land of Nepal is the Lower and Upper Doplo Trek. The Lower Dolpo Trek and Upper Dolpo Trek are perhaps the most beautiful treks that will take you to the secluded part of Nepal, which lies between the Tibetan plateau and the Dhaulagiri range. The place is considered a paradise by those who have already visited it. The beautiful Trans Himalayas, snow-capped mountains, lakes, and forests make this place special among those who love mountains. The difficult terrain and the gorgeous landscapes are the forte of this place. The Dolpo region trek is also a remote area of trekking in Nepal.
Dolpo is a beautiful place in the most isolated part of Nepal with very difficult topography. Although the place is hard to reach, it is the best place to appreciate the natural beauty, which encompasses the snowy peaks, river cascades, lakes, forests, and rich wildlife. In the heart of the Dolpo region lies Shey Phokshundo National Park. The national park shelters a variety of species of flora and fauna. Among them are some endangered species, which include the snow leopard, grey wolf, musk deer, blue sheep, Goral, and many more. Phokshundo Lake Trek, which is also a part of the nation, is surrounded by beautiful glaciers, and just near the lake outlet, there is the highest waterfall in Nepal. The national park has the most diverse landscapes and ranks among the most scenic mountain parks in the world. There are also stupas around the lake, which reflect the religious side of the Dolpo region.
People follow Hinduism, Buddhism, and the Bonpo religion. Dolpo is the only place in Nepal where you will find people practising the Bonpo religion. Shey Gompa is a beautiful monastery and a popular attraction in this palace. People have been able to preserve their Tibetan culture in its purest form. This has been an attractive feature among travellers.
The Oscar-nominated movie “Himalaya (Caravan)” was filmed in the Dolpo region. You can find the preference of Dolpo in David Snelgrove’s book “Himalayan Pilgrimage,” Peter Matthiessen’s “The Snow Leopard,” and George Schaller’s “Stones of Silence.”. Nepal is famous for trekking, hiking, and climbing purposes, but a large number of tourists prefer taking trails to the Everest region and Annapurna region. Thus, the path to the dolpo is less crowded. But because of its near inaccessibility and difficult terrain, people love to travel to this area. The highlights of this trek are snowy peaks, ancient and remote villages, rich wildlife, monasteries, and beautiful lakes.
