The name Kanchenjunga refers to “the five treasures of the high snow,” referring to its five peaks. The name Kanchenjunga is derived from Tibetan origin, having meaning behind each syllable: Kang-Chen-dzo-nga or Yang-cchen-dzö-nga, where “kang” or “yang” refers to snow, “Chen” means great, “dzo” means treasure, and “nga” means five. Kanchenjunga has several different names according to its location. The mountain is religiously important to the local inhabitants, who have their own purposes and beliefs behind it.
Kanchenjunga shelters have globally important flora and fauna. As it is home to diverse flora and fauna, it comprises several protected areas in each stretched area. For Nepal, the Kanchenjunga Conservation Area is one of them. The trail to Kanchenjunga is through the rhododendron forest and a fully blooming orchid flower if you are in the perfect weather.
